O resíduo de óleo lubrificante automotivo é totalmente poluente, apenas um litro dele pode contaminar um milhão de litros de água, por essa razão ele deve ser tratado e destinado corretamente. Se esse resíduo é rerrefinado, pode ser utilizado como óleo lubrificante ou usado na fabricação de outros produtos, como o biodiesel, criando uma alternativa sustentável.
