Gerenciamento de resíduos sólidos: um estudo de caso em restaurantes de Ilhabela

Abstract

O foco deste estudo foram os resíduos sólidos, seu tratamento e destinação final, com enfoque em restaurantes da cidade de Ilhabela. O gerenciamento eficaz de resíduos é tarefa de grande valia no cenário atual, em que temos um crescimento constante e acelerado na produção de lixo, mas ainda carecemos de soluções adequadas para correta destinação dos mesmos, sabe-se da complexidade do tema e de sua grande abrangência, necessitando de uma série de fatores para solucionálo, mas acreditamos que pequenas atitudes e mudanças, mesmo que isoladas, podem contribuir significativamente. A metodologia utilizada foi o levantamento bibliográfico e documental, seguido de entrevistas a donos e gerentes de restaurantes da cidade de Ilhabela, e posteriormente a tabulação dos dados, visando à obtenção de um panorama geral sobre o tratamento dado aos resíduos oriundos de restaurantes na cidade. O objetivo do trabalho foi descobrir sobre a importância do tema na visão dos comerciantes deste ramo e a forma de tratamento destinado aos seus resíduos. Após as entrevistas, o procedimento adotado para caracterização e classificação foi o preenchimento de uma tabela durante o período de uma semana, em que foi medido o volume de resíduos em litros e sua separação foi dividida por classes, quatro restaurantes participaram desta etapa. As entrevistas e as tabelas foram feitas entre os meses de setembro á novembro de 2012. Verificou-se que a quantidade de resíduo orgânico é predominante, e que, mesmo quando ocorre a separação correta, a coleta acaba sendo inadequada, anulando o primeiro esforço. Foram propostas técnicas simples e viáveis que podem contribuir significativamente na solução deste problema. The focuses of this assignment are the solid waste from restaurants from the city of Ilhabela, its treatment and final destination. The effective waste management is a great valuable task on the current scene, where there is a constant and accelerated increase on the waste production, but we still need proper solutions to the right destination of the waste. The complexity of the subject and its range are known, and it is needed a series of factors to solve them, but we believe that little attitudes and changes, even if they are isolated, can contribute significantly. The methodology used was the bibliographical and documental research, followed by interviews with restaurant owners and managers from the city of Ilhabela, and after that the tabulation of data aiming a general view about the solid waste from these restaurants in the city. The objective of this paper was to find out about the importance of this subject from the restaurant owners point of view and the treatment gave to the solid waste produced. After the interviews, the procedure adopted to characterize and classify the data was the fulfillment of a table during the period of a week, when it was measured the volume of the waste in liters and its segregation divided in classes, four restaurants participated of this stage. The interviews and table was produced among months September and November of 2012. It was verified that the quantity of organic waste is predominant and even when the correct segregation occurs , the collection of waste is inappropriate, canceling the first effort. Simple and possible techniques were suggested and can contribute significantly for the solution of this problem.
