Ojo iwaju dudu: o afrofuturismo na moda

Abstract

Este trabalho apresenta o desenvolvimento da coleção Ojo Iwaju Dudu, inspirada no afrofuturismo e em suas possibilidades de representar um futuro em que a estética negra é central e valorizada. A pesquisa parte da reflexão sobre a ausência de narrativas negras nas projeções de futuro presentes na moda e na cultura visual, propondo uma releitura desse imaginário a partir de referências afro-brasileiras, tecnológicas e simbólicas. O objetivo foi criar uma coleção que unisse elementos do futurismo e da ancestralidade africana, explorando formas, cores e materiais que traduzem a conexão entre passado, presente e futuro. A metodologia envolveu pesquisa bibliográfica, análise de referências visuais e desenvolvimento de modelagens e protótipos. O processo criativo buscou equilibrar estética e significado, resultando em peças que expressam força, identidade e pertencimento. Assim, Ojo Iwaju Dudu propõe um olhar para o futuro que reconhece a herança africana como potência criativa e fundamento para imaginar novos mundos possíveis.

This project presents the development of the Ojo Iwaju Dudu collection, inspired by Afrofuturism and its potential to envision a future in which Black aesthetics are central and celebrated. The research stems from a critical reflection on the absence of Black narratives in future-oriented representations within fashion and visual culture, proposing a reimagining of this imaginary through Afro-Brazilian, technological, and symbolic references. The aim was to create a collection that merges elements of futurism with African ancestry, exploring shapes, colors, and materials that express the connection between past, present, and future. The methodology included bibliographic research, visual reference analysis, and the development of patterns and prototypes. The creative process sought to balance aesthetics and meaning, resulting in garments that convey strength, identity, and belonging. Ojo Iwaju Dudu thus offers a vision of the future that embraces African heritage as a source of creative power and a foundation for imagining new possible worlds.
