A variação cambial e sua correlação com os resultados da balança comercial na região de Indaiatuba

Abstract

A diferença entre o total de exportações e importações de uma determinada região é o que compõe a balança comercial dela, se observam diversos fatores que podem influenciar em seu resultado. Um deles – e muito importante - é a variação cambial do período. Porém nem sempre esse fator é de fácil visualização, já que pode sofrer influência de outros que também impactam no resultado, como crises ou incentivos de exportação/importação, por exemplo. Sendo assim, este trabalho se propõe a apresentar e analisar o resultado da balança comercial na região de Indaiatuba (região definida pelo CIESP) e relacioná-lo com as variações cambiais no período dos anos de 2012 até 2017. Tendo o Real sofrido grandes oscilações nesse período, devido a crises internas e flutuações de mercado, é de se esperar que as consequências dessas oscilações sejam de algum modo mensuráveis nos resultados. Com o intuito de tentar identificá-las, na metodologia foi elaborada uma pesquisa documental da balança comercial da região de Indaiatuba, fazendo posteriormente uma correlação com a variação cambial no país, aplicando-se uma análise quantitativa e qualitativa, embasada em dados coletados pelo Ministério do Desenvolvimento, Indústria e Comércio Exterior (MDIC) e pelo Banco Central. O estudo foi conduzido por meio de análise de dados. Os resultados apontaram o câmbio como uma variável de impacto na balança comercial, porém existem outros fatores importantes que influenciam no resultado tanto quanto ele, tais como como nível tecnológico dos produtos, períodos de instabilidade em um país, dependência de poucos mercados entre outros.

The difference between the total exports and imports of a certain region is what represents the country's trade balance, there are several factors that may influence its result. One of them - and very important - is the exchange rate variation of the period. However, this factor is not always easy to visualize, because it can be influenced by others that also impact on the result, such as crises or export/import incentives, for example. Therefore, this monograph proposes to present and analyze the result of the trade balance in the region of Indaiatuba (region defined by the CIESP) and relate it to the exchange rate variations in the period from 2012 to 2017. Since the brazilian Real suffered great fluctuations in this period due to internal crises and market fluctuations, it is to be expected that the consequences of these fluctuations will be somehow measurable in the results. In order to try to identify them, a documentary research was developed on the trade balance of the Indaiatuba region, which later developed a correlation with the exchange variation in the country, applying a quantitative and qualitative analysis, based on data collected by the Ministry Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC) and the Central Bank. The study was conducted through data analysis. The results pointed to the exchange rate as an impact variable in the trade balance, but there are other important factors that influence the result as much as it, such as technological level of products, periods of instability in a country, the dependence on few markets and so forth.
